OUR story.
I will never forget this day, it was the end of February 2018 when I heard the dreaded words “YOU HAVE CANCER”. The words we never think we will hear in our lifetime, words that crumble all your excitement about life, your future plans, your goals and every move you make will forever be different.
My world was completely turned upside down in an instant. As a single mum, all I could think about were my three beautiful boys who are my world, as I am theirs. I knew then, our world would never be the same. My battle on this journey started in March 2018 and over the next 18 months I started to openly share my experiences with family and friends on Instagram. As my treatment progressed, I shared the raw insight of what life was like as a cancer patient, my deepest thoughts that haunted me and my struggles with living with this dreaded disease every day. As time went on, more and more people were following me. People were listening to my story. More importantly my story meant something to other people.
Over the following months, I received hundreds of messages from people reaching out and sharing their stories of family, friends and colleagues who were all asking me for advice on how to help them. There is no right thing to say or do when you find out you have cancer but I found myself supporting others by sharing what helped me. I was lucky, my cancer journey ended in September 2019 when I finally kicked cancer’s arse.
My friends, family and followers flooded me with endless flowers and gifts. At a time when you want someone to know you are thinking of them but you just don’t know the right gift to give. The flowers made me smile for a short while and small gifts were often not practical for a cancer patient and put to the side. Quite often, I didn’t know how I was going to feel from one day to the next and didn’t actually know what would help me. Over the last 2 years, I reflected on this a lot. I am still asked the question today, what do you buy a cancer patient to let them know you are thinking of them.
I would always suggest to buy a hamper and I would list all the products that helped me in my journey. Because in the end, I knew what worked, and what made me feel better. And what put a smile on my face. I realised I had a personal experience that I could share with the world. So, I started to put all of my creativity, energy and positivity into creating a luxurious gift box experience with all the products I used that made my journey a little bit more bearable and comfortable.
